Niamh Slack’s impressionist style is an ode to the ever-changing light, shadows that continually change the tones of land and water. Her style lends itself beautifully to the rugged Irish landscape. As an artist Niamh is used to looking closer at a place and uncovering insights not apparent at first glance. Niamh likes ideally to paint ‘en plein air’ which gives her the opportunity to connect deeply with her surroundings.
When depicting seascapes her interest often lies in the wealth of colours and tones that can be explored in rock formations by the sea. She is especially taken with exploring the tonal ranges that can be found in such formations. Woodland scenes have always and continue to strike a chord with her, and her work focuses on the changing colours of the seasons, both on the foliage and the woodland floor.
