Heikes subject matter is primarily the landscape, interpreting and abstracting Impressions gathered on daily walks and from memories of places she has lived in or visited. Her intention is to connect with the viewer through a feeling of recognition rather than with a recognition of place. She likes to apply paint directly onto the canvas/paper, often with the use of a palette knife, giving a painting an intuitive and spontaneous energy.
Heike holds a Degree from GMIT/Galway in ‘Art and Design’.
